Business case development for GP surgery relocation
The practice required support to develop a robust business case for the relocation of its services from existing premises to a new purpose-built healthcare facility. The business case was needed within a very challenging timeframe to support key decision-making and funding approval processes.
The primary purpose of the business case was to secure approval for the increased revenue costs associated with occupying the new premises. As the building was being funded and constructed by an independent developer, no capital investment was required from either the practice or NHS commissioners. The focus was therefore on demonstrating the affordability and value for money of the ongoing revenue commitments, including rental costs.
The work included reviewing the suitability of the existing premises, assessing current and future service requirements, and identifying the operational benefits of relocating to a modern healthcare environment. Consideration was given to practice growth, patient demand, workforce expansion and the ability to improve service delivery through enhanced accommodation.
The completed business case provided a clear justification for the move, enabling stakeholders to make informed decisions and supporting the practice’s transition into premises capable of meeting future healthcare needs.
Support to an integrated care board primary care team
An integrated care board (ICB) primary care team had requested hands on capacity to provide guidance and subject matter expertise to the team, support to identify development needs, update priorities and risk registers as well as standard procedures. The support was required following ICB restructuring leading to loss of expertise within the team. PCC provided dedicated support for 17 days over six months to mentor and work with the new team delivering the outcomes above.
