The confident leader programme (6) – Session one: Introductions and leadership styles
Tuesday 22 September 2026 to Wednesday 21 April 2027 (10.00-13.00)
Online training programme
Do you have the leadership skills to succeed, would you like headspace to share challenges with others, access advice from an experienced coach and recharge your batteries?
The challenges for all leaders in practices, primary care networks (PCNs), ICB’s and beyond have been immense in the last year. Given the pressures do you still have a clear vision and purpose, are you keeping people on board and is your team performing in the new system? Having headspace to consider these areas and share experience with others will help you lead with confidence.
Our Confident leader programme aims to support all leaders and aspiring leaders (clinical directors, practice managers, ICB leads, commissioners) to better tackle the complexity of the task ahead. You will be considering where do you need to influence to get your vision progressed, you might need to manage difficult conversations and effectively influence without authority. You will need to be a leader of change and ensure you bring people with you.
This online training programme provides a supportive learning environment in which to focus on crucial strategic issues such as developing and maintaining engagement and collaborative working. Sessions include content on understanding people, emotional intelligence and influencing skills. We use a coaching approach and are responsive to the group’s needs and circumstances. We understand the challenges facing leaders in what is an incredibly exciting but sometimes quite isolated role and we believe it’s important to offer headspace to talk, share and work things through as well as information and resources.
The programme consists of seven three-hour sessions delivered via MS Teams, each being 4-6 weeks apart. Sessions from 10.00 – 13.00 as follows:
Session one: Introductions and leadership styles, Tuesday 22 September 2026
Session two: Understanding people – MBTI (Myers Briggs), Tuesday 20 October 2026
Session three: Leading change, Wednesday 25 November 2026
Session four: Influencing skills, Tuesday 12 January 2027
Session five: Collaborative working, Wednesday 10 February 2027
Session six: The leader as a coach, Tuesday 16 March 2027
Session seven: Personal resilience and programme review, Wednesday 21 April 2027.
“Very personable, informative. It was pitched at the right level. Made us reflect and think about lots of internal things without being judgemental. Good quality overall.”
“It has really helped me to reflect more frequently about how I handle situations and communicate with people, particularly how it can be seen/received at the other end.”
