When performance slips, systems revert to command-and-control – more escalation, more assurance, more defensiveness. This workshop offers insight to integrated care board (ICB) commissioners and provider commissioning hubs on a different approach of shared purpose, outcome focus and transparent delivery, allowing commissioners to become a “gardener leader” – creating the right conditions for change rather than demanding it.

Using proven practice from systems thinking, objectives and key results (OKRs) and psychological safety, we explore how to:

• Turn strategy into clear, shared outcomes that drive engagement and delivery
• Use data as insight to understand patterns and flow
• Create and share knowledge that accelerates improvement across organisations
• Evolve the “rules of engagement” so collaboration becomes the default
• Use language that strengthens trust, challenge and accountability
• Promote high accountability, with low fear

This three-hour workshop is aimed at ICB commissioners and provider commissioning hubs.
