Online training session

Integrated care boards need to grow their knowledge and skills to effectively commission primary care services. Once primary medical care services contracts are in place, commissioners will need to manage variation requests.
This virtual training course will provide the detail on the types of variations you will manage, including changes to contractors, services, patient lists, and premises.

We will also look at the potential implications of the Provider Selection Regime in decision making processes in relation to contract variations.

This workshop does not cover incorporations or sub-contracting – please see the session contract changes if you are interested in these topics.

The session will enable commissioners and those working on their behalf to understand the requests and the processes that must be followed to enact contract variations.

The agenda covers:

  • introduction to contracts and variations
  • changes to contracting parties
  • changes to services, including opt-outs
  • open/ closed patient lists
  • premises

This session is delivered by PCC’s expert adviser team.

This session is for commissioners and those working on their behalf with limited or no experience of primary medical commissioning and is also a useful refresher for those with more experience. Basic knowledge of primary medical services contracts will be helpful.
