Primary care medical contracts – an introduction – Session one
Tuesday 24 March and Thursday 26 March 2026
Integrated care boards need to grow their knowledge and skills to effectively commission primary care services. Over two virtual sessions, this course introduces commissioners to the main areas of primary care medical contracts (GMS, PMS and APMS) that they need to understand.
The course is designed to give a complete introduction to primary medical care commissioning and is therefore well suited to commissioners who are new to their role or those looking to refresh their knowledge.
The two sessions of 3 hours each familiarise commissioners with primary medical contracts and will cover:
- Contract types
- Who can hold them
- Services
- Variation rules
- Patient lists
- Practice areas
- Contract changes (mergers/ novation/ incorporation etc).
There will be opportunity for questions and answers and to test the newly gained knowledge throughout the two sessions.
Delegates are expected to attend both sessions.
These sessions are delivered by PCC’s expert adviser team.
