Primary care dental contracts – contract changes – Session one

NHS dentistry is a vital primary care service, and commissioners play an essential role in ensuring that effective contractual arrangements are in place to deliver accessible, high-quality care for patients. Throughout the life of a contract, commissioners are required to manage changes that sit outside those specifically set out in regulations.

This virtual training course, delivered over two sessions, provides a detailed overview of these types of changes. It explores the processes involved, as well as the strategic considerations commissioners must consider when managing them. The course will also explore the potential implications of the new Provider Selection Regime on decision-making when handling these changes.

The agenda includes:

• Subcontracting
• Practice mergers
• Personal Dental Services (PDS) to General Dental Services (GDS) requests
• Novation requests arising from incorporation and disincorporation

Please note: This workshop does not cover variations to services or ownership. If you are interested in these areas, please refer to the separate session on contract variations.

The session will be delivered by one of our dental experts.

Delegates will benefit most through active participation, including engaging in discussions, asking questions, taking part in group activities, and using interactive tools. There will also be opportunities to share experiences, discuss current challenges, and explore practical solutions with both the facilitator and fellow participants.

This session is for commissioners and those working on their behalf.

By the end of the course, delegates will be equipped with the knowledge and confidence to effectively manage contract changes that occur outside the standard variation process.
