NHS dentistry is a vital primary care service and commissioners play an essential role in ensuring that effective contractual arrangements are in place to deliver accessible, high-quality care for patients.

This three-hour virtual training session offers a comprehensive introduction to NHS dental commissioning. It explores the different types of dental contracts, the range of services commissioned and the financial frameworks that underpin service delivery.

Designed for commissioners and those working on their behalf, the session aims to build a clear and practical understanding of the contractual structures required to support NHS dentistry.

The agenda includes:

• Dental contractual arrangements
• Who can hold a dental contract
• Services provided within NHS dentistry
• Financial structures and payment mechanisms

The session will be delivered by one of our dental experts. Delegates will benefit most through active participation, including engaging in discussions, asking questions, taking part in group activities and using interactive tools. There will also be opportunities to share experiences, discuss current challenges and explore practical solutions with both the trainer and fellow participants.

This training is particularly suited to commissioners and colleagues with little or no experience in dental commissioning, while also providing a valuable refresher for more experienced professionals.

By the end of the course, participants will have a confident understanding of the core principles of NHS dental contracting.
