The NHS is undergoing unprecedented transformation. With the rollout of the 10 Year Health Plan, the shift from hospital to community care, digital-first services, and major structural reforms, project management skills are no longer optional – they’re essential.

Project management requires a specific set of skills, some of which we possess naturally and can learn to use more effectively. But it also requires knowledge and a well-defined approach.

This online workshop (comprising two sessions) will explore the common principles of project management, covering the journey from inception to completion. Delegates should take part in both sessions.

The workshop covers the rationale for projects, the stages of project management, the role of the project manager and gives useful hints and tips for effective and efficient project management. The workshop has been designed as an introduction to project management suitable for those who are new to the role or have recently taken on responsibility for projects or is new to a project team. It is also suitable for anyone looking for a refresh of the principles of project management.

At the end of the training sessions, delegates will understand:

  • The principles of project management
  • How to define a project and ensure each stage is clearly understood and implemented
  • Key roles within projects
  • Critical steps in preparing for a project
  • How to make the most of time and resources
  • How to identify and mitigate risks
  • How to understand if a project has been successful or not
  • A selection of commonly used tools to support the project.
