GP premises reimbursement explained: requirements and practical application – Session two

GP premises are fundamental to the delivery of NHS primary care medical services, and commissioners have a key responsibility to ensure accurate reimbursement of premises costs to GP contractors.

This two-part virtual training course provides a detailed introduction to the rent reimbursement process for GP practices. Delegates will gain clarity on the regulatory requirements, the types of reimbursement available, and how these vary depending on premises ownership models. The course also addresses the complexities of rent reviews, reimbursement administration, and the changes introduced in the 2024 NHS (General Medical Services Premises Costs) Directions.

• What the Directions say about recurring premises costs
• Types of reimbursement:
  • Notional rent
  • Leasehold
  • Borrowing costs
• The end-to-end reimbursement process
• How rent reviews are managed and applied

Led by a primary care premises expert, this interactive course includes practical exercises, Q&A sessions, and discussion opportunities to help apply learning to real-world scenarios. This course has been designed for commissioners and those acting on their behalf who need a clear understanding of GP premises reimbursement processes.
