Co-design to engage people in designing solutions

Tuesday 26 January 2027 (09.30-12.00)
Online training session

Local systems need to be able to use both hard and soft data to understand the full picture of what will deliver a local vision for care closer to home for those most in need.

While for many both in the statutory and the not-for-profit sector (voluntary and faith organisations, grassroots groups etc) the starting point for understanding which groups of people may benefit most from neighbourhood health initiatives will be data.

Data only tells half the story – talking to people from those groups and communities identified in the NHS Plans initial focus (those who are frail, have multiple long-term conditions, children and young people and those living with cancer) helps round out the picture.

Co-design is a well-established tool for involving people in these conversations.

This workshop will:

  • Explore the notion of a continuum of involvement and what approaches to engagement and communication may be best used and when
  • Introduce the idea of co-production
  • Discuss the challenges of power sharing and building equitable relationships
  • Share a range of resources for you to continue your learning journey outside the session.

Each workshop can be attended as a standalone session or as part of a wider development programme.

Participants booking on all four workshops will be able to attend four for the price of three.
