Welcome to the February edition of PCC Insight, this month we look at some of the key topics for 2025. We consider investment in primary care premises, and how practices and integrated care boards may wish to prepare. There is an article on locally commissioned services, including how and why it is important to review these services on a regular basis and tips on how to undertake a review.
We reflect on a recent decision which highlighted the importance of making sure contract variations are appropriately managed. How PCC can help build foundations for neighbourhood health is outlined. Following some recent work we have been doing with a local medical committee in relation to awareness raising of NHS Pensions, and particularly the McCloud judgement, there is an article from Wesleyan on what individuals should do now.
We are supporting dentists in an area to get to grips with Care Quality Commission inspections and provide information on this work. In the next few years we anticipate that the use of AI will increase, and we look at the potential use of AI in general practice.

Being able to effectively manage these contracts is a key area for primary care commissioners as a strong and appropriately commissioned primary care sector (all four contractor groups) is an essential foundation for neighbourhood health.
