Additional roles – don’t forget the estates plan

The additional roles reimbursement scheme means on average each primary care network (PCN) having funding allocations for up to 12 additional team members. To effectively support practices and provide the best services for patients having appropriate space in practices for these professionals is becoming more of an issue.

It is becoming a necessity for PCNs to develop estate plans that support their clinical strategies, especially as funding for more roles becomes available year after year. Creative short or longer term solutions with other organisations supporting the PCN will help, but the longer term strategy needs engagement with stakeholders and potentially funding. PCC have associates who can support PCNs to work through their estate strategies enabling commissioners to consider and make longer term strategic decisions. We have considerable expertise relating to primary care estate policy and estate planning. Contact enquiries@pcc-cic.org.uk to discuss how we can support.
